ChiaroScuro

ChiaroScuro is a complete Global Illumination framework solution for 3Delight for Maya featuring both Point-Based and Ray-Tracing techniques.
ChiaroScuro consists of:
- a set of material shaders
- a set of light shaders
- several plugins
It enables users to generate global illumination passes from 3Delight for Maya with few mouse clicks (even just one if using the defaults). It does not require any knowledge at the user side, it just works™.
You can use Maya materials and lights as you’re used to, and you can use our advanced physically plausible material and lights, respectively JupiterMaterial & JupiterLight, which are bundled with ChiaroScuro.
JupiterMaterial
JupiterMaterial is an advanced RSL2.0 surface & displacement shader for hard shell design-like materials with powered by modern importance-sampled BSDFs, analytical and from acquired data.
It provides the user a series of useful presets like matte, matte translucent, glossy, metal, shiny metal, mirror, glass, rough glass, car paint etc.
It works on a stackable layer approach, where one adds layers and coatings with the ability to modify each through texture maps & procedural generators.
Layers are stacked via compositing flags. JupiterMaterial outputs several compositing passes (AOV) by default. It is accompanied by a PDF document “Replicating real world materials”.
JupiterLight
JupiterMaterial works with JupiterLight, an advanced area light shader able to replicate and extend the functionality of light shaders in 3D packages adding unique functionalities.
