Duran Duboi

/*jupiter jazz*/ is pleased to announce that Paris-based studio Duran Duboi makes a significant investment, acquiring a site license of Floyd, Particle Porn & Ryutai.

Duran Duboi acquired a site-license of Floyd, ParticlePorn and Ryutai, and joined the beta testing of AtomKraft. Their experienced team has provided invaluable feedback on the development of Floyd, Particle Porn and Ryutai. Working with Duran Duboi’s talented crew is a great experience. Duran Duboi is using our tools on its current animation project “La Mécanique du cœur”.

Stephane Deverly, Duran Duboi’s CTO, says:

We had to find a cost efficient solution to bring state of the art fluid and particles effects into our PRMan pipeline. At that time our R&D department was super busy, rewriting a feature animation pipeline from scratch, so we asked folks from /*jupiter jazz*/ to give us a hand. Their incredible technical skills and production experience allowed them to deliver tools under tight deadlines, adjusting them to our needs from our constant feedback. Definitely worth the investment, and certainly just the start of a growing collaboration.

Sebastien Rossi, Duran Duboi’s FX supervisor, says:

In La Mécanique du cœur, our in progress feature animation project, we had to find cost efficient solutions to produce state of the art effects under short dead lines. We asked people
from /*jupiter jazz*/ to write for us tools such as a Maya fluids integration with Prman (Floyd) , massive spawning and advection of particles at render time (ParticlePorn), and a GPU-based Maya fluid field (Ryutai). We are playing with first versions of these tools, giving constant feedback to make them better, and are confident will be able to deliver cool effects using them. We are already able to deliver effects which would have been out of reach or out of budget if we didn’t have the tools /*jupiter jazz*/ delivered so far.
