Floyd

AtomKraft

Floyd is a toolset that allows to render Maya Fluids with RenderMan renderers with improved quality and advanced rendering effects, aimed at VFX production.

Floyd consists of:

  • A high-performance ray marching DSO: floyd.dylib/.so/.dll
  • A RSL2.0 interior shader: floyd.sdl (3Delight version)
  • A RSL2.0 surface shader: floyd.slo (PRMan version)
  • A command line tool, floyd-wt, to apply wavelet turbulence to Maya caches

The following advanced affects are supported:

  • Improved filtering of textures
  • High quality anti-aliasing and filtering (no banding, no artifacts)
  • 3D motion blur
  • 2.5D post motion blur
  • Render-time addition of detail via floyd-wt  wavelet-noise
  • Optional cache re-timing without re-simulation
  • Point-based occlusion, color bleed, SH environment lighting
  • Volumetric scattering

Floyd natively reads Maya Fluid caches.

Floyd is available for:

  • PRMan
  • 3Delight
