Made on Jupiter

We are in preparations to launch /*jupiter jazz*/ on an exciting new development platform: reality.

As much as for many of us the digital is part of our reality, we here mean: real as opposed to digital. Hardware as opposed to software. You know: the stuff that needs to deal with gravity.
Starting of course with our sporadically neglected bodies that beg us to climb a mountain, surf a wave and for some: hammer a nail. It is the mandate of every Jovian to get out there and bring back that wisdom that’s written in our bones and muscles rather than our brains. It is also, for some of us, of capital importance to assimilate reality so we can emulate it properly on the other side of our flat screens. That goes almost without saying.
But now, we’ll take it a step further. Or rather: a step in the opposite direction. We will apply our particular digital skills to modify the real. To make things. To move things. To light things maybe, or utter sound and play music.
So we’re going to launch a new platform to carry projects of that sort, and we’ll tentatively call it: /*made on jupiter*/
Examples
Here are a couple of examples of what we have been working on:
The J. Winfield chair
A Cantilever curved plywood lounge chair with four different veneers, upholstery in polyurethane foam covered with leather or cotton, with volumetric dimensions 710 mm x 820 mm x 730 mm.
Designed by Sacha Ulber, /*made on jupiter*/
Lizard Lady
Featuring a Lizard Lady veneer and upholstery covered of Kvadrat Sudden 004
Amazakoue
Featuring a Vinterio Amazakoue veneer and upholstery covered of Kvadrat Divina Mélange 2–220
Cora Ebony
Featuring a Cora Ebony veneer and upholstery covered of Kvadrat Sudden 016
The Octo Stool
The Octo Stool is a snapfit plywood design, requiring glue nor screws. It is an exercise in waste reduction. A standard 4’x8’ sheet of plywood yields 8 stools with minimal cutoff waste.
Designed by Tom Kluyskens, for /*made on jupiter*/
Mr Cactus baby high chair
The (tentatively named) Mr Cactus high chair is a playful slotted plywood design for a 2-in-1 baby chair. The chair easily hooks in and out of the cactus stand and so can be used as an adjustable high chair as well as a regular baby chair. The seat is designed to grow with the baby, all the way from the first moment the infant can sit, to toddler age and beyond. At all stages the seat side and back can be set to tightly hug the baby’s shape, and the T-piece (along with an optional harness and table) makes sure baby is locked in.
