Paolo began rendering support at the Alias|Wavefront ESC in 2000. He moved to the Toronto headquarters as a Maya mental ray product specialist within the Product Development Group. In 2003, he joined a mental images' special project as a product developer, working offsite in Venezia and at the main office of mental images, in Berlin.

During this period Paolo contributes to the development of Maya, 3ds Max, ImageStudio, AliasStudio, mental ray, mental mill, and reality server and several shaders. On behalf of Alias|wavefront and mental images, he has also been a rendering consultant for various productions in Europe, United States, and Asia.

He is also the author of three Alias Learning Tools DVDs, co wrote several rendering manuals and books for Alias|wavefront and mental images and has taught 10 MasterClasses worldwide. He has been present on the SIGGRAPH MasterClass roster for the past seven years. Paolo started the mental ray certification program at the University of Beijing in 2006 and is the creator of the "TRIX R 4 KIDS" educational series.

In early 2007 Paolo quit mental images and currently works as an independent consultant and supervisor for VFX houses, industrial/product design firms, and animation software companies, featuring worldwide clients such as Autodesk, Benetton, DNA software, Menfond Electronic Art, Square|ENIX and many others. His main focuses are rendering pipelines and dynamic simulations.

Production wise he just finished to deploy a 3Delight fur shading and rendering pipeline for Menfond Electronic Art in Hong Kong for the upcoming Stephen Chou's flick "CJ7" (January 2008).

Besides rendering, he's actively playing a parallel career in the field of arts helping out artists realizing their vision, being himself a visionary photographer and artist under the name /*jupiter jazz*/

Last but not least he’s a crazy extreme skier and (wind)surfer.
